Fiber Bangles - DIY bracelet tutorial
I spent all last weekend making handmade Christmas gifts with my sister, which is when I made the fabric-wrapped hangers. Wrapping with fabric is such a soothing process, a lot like knitting, but 1000x easier. I decided to transfer the technique to jewelry. Enter: fiber-wrapped bangles.
I say fiber, not fabric-wrapped, because it would work so well with anything from string to yarn, twine to fabric, ribbon to twill. I chose complimentary fabrics and yarns that I already had.
Materials
hot glue and gun
bangle bracelets - plastic, metal, or wood
about a yard of fiber of your choice: ribbon, fabric, yarn, string, twine, twill, floss, etc.
scissors
Directions
Begin with a dab of hot glue on the bangle; place your fiber in the glue and let set. Wrap the fiber around the starting point a couple of times to make sure it is secure. Wrap all the way around the bangle until it is covered completely. Tie the fiber off and hot glue the knot to secure.
You can be very creative with this process - use multiple fibers on one bracelet, varying the texture or colors. Use both fiber and fabric on one bangle, or create a whole set of bracelets in complimentary colors. Such a cute gift idea!
