DIY Round-Up and Giving Up the Internet

working on new cards

For the month of March, I've decided to do something I've been wanting to do for a long time. For the month of March, 2012, I am giving up the internet. This is totally not related to Lent, by the way! I've just been trying be more active and to get more sleep - both of those things have been hindered by the internet.

I kept in touch with friends and family on Facebook, and I was social networking in other ways. My business is online - I use email, Etsy, and more to get my work done. I write on Indie Pretty Projects, do research on Google, and edit photos on my computer. Too much is required of my computer, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Two weeks ago I quit Twitter, and this month I decided to get rid of Facebook for social purposes. I am allowed online once a week to keep my business running and to write blog posts - this is the first time I've been online in four days, and it has been a wonderful four days. I have more time to create for my shop, I go to bed before 1:00 AM, and have more time to exercise.

That's what I've been up to lately - trying to move more, sleep more, and be creative more often. While I'm working on this clarity cleanse, I thought I would share some of my recent guest posts on Going Home to Roost - I hope you enjoy these DIYs and recipes!

  1. I have been wanting to take an internet break as well but haven't had the guts to DO IT yet. I'm thinking maybe once the weather is nicer and I can be outside. :) I commend you!

  2. Thanks, Emily! It's actually been really wonderful - I wish I would have done it a long time ago. So much more time to create, or just be in the moment.
